Fitness and fertility in general
Getting regular physical activity is good for your overall and fertility health – both physically and mentally. These include helping you:
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Reduce your stress levels
The hardest part about getting fit? Actually starting a fitness plan. If you’re having problems getting motivated and moving, find a friend to work out with, or join a class at your community centre or local gym. You can also try using a fitness activity tracker or a fitness app on your smartphone. These devices help you track your daily steps and monitor your fitness level. They make it easy to see if you’re getting your recommended daily activity, and can help you set goals to increase your activity level over a period of time. If you prefer to exercise from the comfort of your own home, there are many free exercise routines available online.

DID YOU KNOW?
Research has shown that exercise can increase fertility in men. And you don’t need to become a CrossFit junkie to get the benefits. Actually, it’s better if you don’t exercise too hard. Moderate exercise, such as taking a fast walk or enjoying a yoga class, improves your semen quality and numbers, as well as the ability of your sperm to resist damage and breakage (this is known as the integrity of your DNA) and pregnancy rates.Sansone, A., Sansone, M., Vaamonde, D., Sgrò, P., Salzano, C., Romanelli, F., ... & Di Luigi, L.
